The visible protruding band shall fill the space at the front of the ferrule. It can be turned slightly but not moved axially. When installing next, the threads of the actual fitting body shall be lubricated and the compression nuts shall be screwed together until an increase in tightening force is felt, then the collar fitting shall be tightened 1/2 turn to complete the installation.
